Vlow! is a festival that lives in the space between communication, design and architecture. It’s an international platform for education, encounters and networking, drawing everyone from graphic designers and architects to scenographers to photographers to audio and video designers to managers ranging across branding, marketing and advertising. Communication strategies in space and innovative work and cooperation processes are just some of the topics that participants can expect from Vlow!.
Lucerne, Switzerland–based Studio Feixen found a kindred spirit in Vlow! exactly ten minutes after its director, Hans-Joachim Gögl, entered Studio Feixen’s space. The like-minded studio appreciated Gögl’s ambition to create a festival that breaks boundaries by having speakers work together with the audience. Naturally, just a few weeks later, Studio Feixen found itself visiting Gögl in Bregenz, Austria, where the festival is held.
During a three-day workshop, the studio closely collaborated with the curator and elaborated a visual presentation for the festival. With only one design requirement—that the design language follow previous years’—Studio Feixen had room to flex its creative muscles. In line with the name Vlow!, it decided on a concept that is in continuous motion: an animated poster, a modular poster system that can be hung as a rapport and an animation that’s displayed across the facade of the nearby Casino Bregenz complete the compelling visual suite.
