Designed in a partnership with ad agency BBH New York and the satirical blog McSweeney’s, Westin Hotels & Resorts created the Out of Office Generator as part of its You Need Better Vacation Days campaign. A :30 online spot demonstrates how the digital tool generates a custom message for an office worker escaping to a tropical vacation. The website component to the campaign prompts users to answer a few questions about the type of vacation they’re taking, and generates a message peppered with the usual wit from the writers at McSweeney’s. Users can share a shortened version of the out-of-office message on Facebook and Twitter, extending the campaign to social media platforms.
