Background: The main idea of the project was the repackaging of the Zamoysky Brandy. We tried to highlight the uniqueness of the history of the brand for European consumers. In 1882, after being charmed and impressed by the clearness of the water that was flowing right from the heart of the High Tatras, Count Andrei Zamoyski bought the castle of Stará Ľubovňa in the surrounding area of Spiš, Hungary, restoring it immediately after its purchase.
While there was an appreciation for alcoholic beverages in the city and even written references to the city’s alcohol production dating back to the thirteenth century, the quality of the alcohol was still poor. This led to the production of a distillate of wine and its modification in brandy with an irreplaceable royal flavor. It became so popular that it eventually was brought to all kinds of celebrations. While the Zamoysksy family owned the castle until 1945, to follow the rich distillery past, we are honored to continue the traditions of our ancestors.
Reasoning: I was thinking about the history of the Zamoysky family—about their dynasty and how to transmit that rich story through the label.
Challenges: The most challenging aspect of the project was of the maintaining the history of the dynasty.
Approach: We were lucky that we had no specific demands, and that the client gave us the freedom to be creative.
