Duration: Five years.
Location: Lagos, Nigeria.
Education: Self-taught in photography. I studied building technology at the University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria.
Career path: I like to believe that it all began due to some strange urge to be expressive—an urge that still haunts me till this day. So yes, this happened naturally.
My work life now generally revolves around creating images and film—or visual content, as you might say. Getting to tell stories through my personal work formed the core of my craft, and would eventually lead to creating visual campaigns for clients in the form of photographs, film and commercials for TV.
Artistic influences: Every single thing forms a source of inspiration. Nothing is uninspirational.
Favorite projects: I do love every one of my photographs as I have some bonding connection to each of them. However, I especially love my recent work with the fashion house Mai Atafo.
Approach: I feel a terrifying pressure to obsess over the amount of self I have to put into an image before I can call it mine. A photograph could be technically right, but I need the presence of a human element. A user on the photography platform EyeEm regarded my work as being “universal and human.” I felt a moment of great gratitude.
Aspirations: I hope to still be creating a lot of impactful and inspiring work while also adding lasting value to wherever it is I find myself.
Philosophy: Whatever you are, be very.
Anything else? I’m a big The Weeknd fan.
