The portfolio of Salt Lake City–based photographer Alex Knight pulses with adrenaline, full of cowboys riding bucking horses, motocross athletes flying through the air and SUVs kicking up dust as they zoom offroad. Perhaps, then, it comes as no surprise that Knight found his entry into photography when he was gifted a GoPro camera at age thirteen. “I immediately fell in love with capturing the world around me,” he recalls. “This hobby gradually grew into a passion throughout high school and college.” After graduating from Brigham Young University’s AdLab advertising program in 2024, he immediately dove into a freelance photography career with clients like photography equipment brand ProMaster and Sandals Resorts. These days, he finds inspiration from the grunge movement of the 1990s, seeking to emulate that unfiltered authenticity through his cameras. “I love capturing people doing amazing things and creating images that inspire people to pursue their dreams,” Knight explains. “I want people to see my images and think, ‘That’s extraordinary. I want to be extraordinary.’ I want to leave them thinking about how they could work harder and become more courageous and different.”
