Better known to many by her Instagram moniker, @hokaytokay, 22-year-old photographer Amanda Jasnowski is a firm believer in the therapeutic power of art. Her playful vignettes—or “one-minute sculptures” as she sometimes calls the quirky compositions she regularly shares with nearly 80,000 followers—show a young artist determined not to take herself too seriously. Born in Spain and raised in a small town in Ohio, Jasnowski launched her commercial career in Brooklyn at age 20, thanks in large part to her huge following on Instagram. Clients like Converse, Nordstrom, Samsung and Oreo appreciate her unpretentious and often colorful style, and Jasnowski says she thrives on balancing client needs with her own aesthetic, finding it an interesting challenge to remain true to her art in her professional career. “Everybody is trying” remains Jasnowski’s kind-hearted motto, a positive attitude that continues to pay off for this bright, new photographer.
