Duration: Since 2004.
Staff: Just me plus freelance assistants and stylists depending on the job.
Education: I have a BS from Northeastern University in Boston. I spent my first couple of years studying architecture, decided I'd rather be photographing buildings than designing them, and switched to photography for the remainder of my time there. This path has forever influenced my way of seeing.
Cultural Influences: Growing up in suburbia, cloudy skies, stormy weather, German photography, New Topographics, Joel Sternfeld, Harry Callahan, Edward Hopper, mid-century architecture, futurist environments depicted on sci-fi TV shows, Iceland, Polaroid, and the handmade/DIY/craft movement.
Environment: I always work on location. I'm interested in the places that people live and work, the things people build, and how people interact with their environments. At home I've got a small office with two dogs that hang out next to me while I'm working. When I've been in front of the computer too long they force me to take a break and go outside to play with them.
Philosophy: Always be looking, work hard and be nice to people.
