Duration: I’ve been freelancing for about four years.
Staff: Mostly just me, and my two reps, Kathy Bruml and Jean Conlon at BrumlConlon in New York. I like to style my own food projects and touch everything. I have a MacGyver-like assistant who helps me on larger jobs.
Education: I have a bachelor’s degree in illustration and a master’s degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri.
Influences: Dutch masters, Sally Mann, the South.
Environment: Kitchens, farms, my back porch, anywhere with good light.
Philosophy: Keep it simple.
