Location: Pasadena, California, and www.eriksandberg.net.
Duration: Illustration for print about three years.
Education: Degrees with distinction from Art Center College of Design and The Art Institute of Minneapolis.
Cultural Influences: Vintage Americana, the eclectic cityscapes of Los Angeles. Contemporary fine art, and forgotten slide carousels found at estate sales and family attics.
Environment: A converted 1927 house stuck in the middle of commercial buildings and shopping plazas. Great working space with a yard for the dog and plenty of room to paint. Having a studio in historical downtown Pasadena is great in the sense that I can walk to the coffee shop, FedEx and the library all in seconds, not to mention the weather is always beautiful.
Philosophy: My philosophy is to work hard to keep it interesting for my audience and me. When working, I try to build the paintings with everything I have at my disposal, whether it is a newly modified polygon model or paper torn out of an antique music book. I try to invite the chaos into the work and mold it into the voice I need to communicate the idea at hand.
