Duration: Two years of freelancing and two years of previous experience at design and development studios.
Location: I’m based in Antwerp, Belgium, but I often reside in Brussels, working at Base Design.
Career path: From an early age, my love for elegance and simplicity led me to delve into the world of good design in search of aesthetics I could relate to. I also used to draw a lot—starting with manga (Japanese comics) and later with graffiti—but at one point, the logic and structured approach of graphic design, as well as programming, really caught my interest.
Cultural influences: The harmony of Japanese aesthetics and its relation with nature is one worth mentioning.
Work environment: I often work from home; I live in a turn-of-the century apartment with large windows and an all-white interior. My desk is always tidy, and the environment never reminds me too much of work, since my work area shares space with my dining room.
Approach: Coming from a digital design and development background, I envision the brand’s online presence early on in the process. Working at the intersection between design and development is also something I like to do.
Aspirations: I have a great interest in interior and furniture design; for now, collecting nice pieces of furniture is nothing more than a hobby, but it would be great to one day do an interior design project—or perhaps even create a piece of furniture that combines furniture design with my knowledge of graphic design.
Philosophy: Be honest.
