Duration: After graduating, I initially cofounded the studio Design Devision in London, which ran for almost three years. Since moving back to Greece, I worked as a senior designer and art director at several design and ad agencies. I began running my own practice one year ago.
Location: Athens, Greece.
Education: MA in graphic design from the London College of Communication, London, United Kingdom; MRes in exhibition studies from Central Saint Martins, London, United Kingdom; BA in graphic design from the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Athens, Greece.
Cultural influence: My mother took me to see my first art exhibition at the age of ten. I constantly explored painters, art movements and museums after that, first by stealing books from my mother’s large library and later by traveling. My studies opened my world to Bauhaus, De Stijl and typography, which helped define my style.
Paula Scher was the first design figurehead to motivate me professionally. On top of her typographical style and her inspiring freedom in creating new styles, she is still an active designer and is among the top designers of our time. Apart from famous designers and the lesser-known talented designers that I observe online, I’m artistically influenced by almost everything around me. A movie, a walk, a journey, a song—design is not just a practice; it’s also a lifestyle.
Work environment: I work in a small, bright room with white walls and typographical posters. Quite often, I prefer working in places like coffee shops with my laptop, as it helps me gather inspiration. I collaborate with people who live in other places, so Skype calls connect us together.
Approach: The most important part of any project is the research—getting to the subject’s core and the client’s needs. This process guarantees that I will create visuals that significantly represent the exact person, team and service. I am really passionate about every project I undertake and devoted to designing the best possible outcome.
Aspirations: To expand my studio, both physically and culturally. I hope to bring various designers from different fields together under the same roof and create visual communication that will have an impact.
Philosophy: Honesty and ethos. I believe you have to be honest to yourself and protect your character; at the same time, you have to be true and decent to others—clients, collaborators, and everyone involved in your work and career.
