Education: BA in graphic design from Instituto Europeo di Design in Barcelona, Spain.

Cultural influences: Skateboarding has been the red thread through most of my life. As a teenager, I used to copy and make my own versions of pro skateboarding graphics; eventually, that evolved into playing around in Microsoft Paint and Photoshop. There have always been a ton of talented artists working within skateboarding culture. Film and music videos have been a big influence on my work, but really, I draw inspiration from anything from ’70s sci-fi to fine art. 

Projects: I got total freedom to do whatever I wanted on two Yorokobu magazine projects, which can be a a nightmare sometimes when working for a client. But I can look back at those two projects in ten years and feel like they’re not total crap.

Approach: I have always been interested in doing a little bit of everything, and not locking myself down to one specialty or style. There will be periods when I do a lot of work in a certain style, but I always try to be open and influenced by other things—even by other designers’ that I don’t like; I try to figure out what I don’t like about it and what I might be able to do better.

Philosophy: Have fun and enjoy what you do, and if you don’t get the type of work you want, create it for yourself. Do one of your own projects every day in any medium. Practice makes perfect!
