Duration: Official kick-off was March of 2004.
Staff: Principals Matthew Clark and Roy White, designer Steph Gibson and a host of various freelancers as needed.
Education: Matthew earned a BFA from the University of British Columbia, and Roy graduated from Mander College of Art & Design in London.
Cultural Influences: Part of being a designer is being infinitely curious. Curious about street art, beat poetry, building construction, high fashion, tea leaves, eco-logical farming practices in the high Sierras. In other words, everything—especially, by the cultures of our clients. The most interesting and surprising solutions often come when our personal influences and interests collide with our clients' cultures.
Environment: Our physical environment is an open-plan 1,700 square foot studio that we and our clients find inspiring and comfortable, and that engenders a sense of collaboration and openness. It's a good reflection of our mental/emotional work environment.
Philosophy: On a truly philosophical level, each of us brings different values to "design," from the superiority of a great piece of typography, to the unshakability of a solid concept, to the value of ideas over decorating, to the miracle of a great insight into a client's business. But on a more pragmatic level, we believe in the power of great relationships with our clients, and never being too lazy to get to know our clients' business and create breakthrough concepts that are unique and relevant to them.
