“In northern Canada sprawls one of the largest national parks in the world: Wood Buffalo National Park. It is a land of superlatives and home to the largest remaining herd of wild wood bison in the world. While humanity was decimating the ranks of prairie bison from millions to mere hundreds, the wood bison were hiding out in the northern woods, escaping man’s wrath. But are we finally catching up with them? The local Mikisew Cree First Nation is so concerned about encroaching development that it petitioned UNESCO to investigate the issue and place the UNESCO World Heritage Site on its list of sites in danger. This is a story of the last of the wild bison, the land they live in and the people they share it with.”
