Mihail why don't you tell us about your film. Director: My film "Livid' is about a man that becomes very angry - just for a moment. May eleventh to sixteenth. for details go to worldwideshortfilmfest.com ---------------------- CANADIAN FILM CENTRE'S WORLDWIDE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL TV "Establishing a Character" : 30 (AS RECORDED) Open on the inside of a sparsely furnished classroom. A blackboard with "Short film actor's workshop - Establishing a character" written on it is in the background. A group of students sit cross-legged on the floor, their backs to us - watching the scene. The teacher is standing before the group with two students, after a moment one of the students begins the scene. Student 1: Flavious, you have angered the Gods. Student 2: And what of the senate Minimus? The teacher immediately stops the students. Teacher: What?? I don't get it? Who's who? The teacher points to one of the students. Teacher: Okay sit down. When establishing your character in a short film, it's got to be quick. The teacher stands in the scene with the remaining student. He looks at the class then to the student in the scene with him and motions to him. Teacher: Like this. Go again. The student again begins the scene. Student 1: Flavious…you The teacher reaches out and twists the student's nipple. Student 1: Ouch The teacher steps back and points to the student and them himself as he speaks to the class while tapping his watch. The student nurses his nipple Teacher: See that, good guy…bad guy. Two seconds. Cut to the end slate and the "Worldwide short Film Festival" logo. ---------------------- CANADIAN FILM CENTRE'S WORLDWIDE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL TV "Good Cop / Bad Cop" : 30 (AS RECORDED) Open on the inside of a sparsely furnished classroom. On the wall of the room is a blackboard with: "Short film workshop – Good Cop / Bad Cop" written on it. A group of students sit cross-legged on the floor, their backs to camera. Two students are sitting facing one another, one as a cop the other as a suspect. Another student playing a cop stands looking on. The teacher stands off to the side watching. Student 1: Where'd you hide the gun? We know you did it scumbag! The student who is standing interrupts saying: Student 2: Hey Mary take it easy – let's get her a cuppa coffee or something. The teacher sighs and takes a step forward looking at his watch. Teacher: And roll the credits. Too long, sit down. The two students get up and head off to sit down, leaving the student acting as the suspect sitting in front of the class. The teacher continues: Teacher: "Good cop, bad cop" is very tough to do in a short film. Luckily I've developed a method. The teacher moves over and sits with the student who is playing the suspect. Teacher: The Heidegger method. The teacher turns to the student. Teacher: Confess bitch, nice hair. He turns to the class with a knowing nod. Cut to the end slate and the "Worldwide short Film Festival" logo. ---------------------- CANADIAN FILM CENTRE'S WORLDWIDE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL TV "Love scene" : 30 (AS RECORDED) Open on the inside of a sparsely furnished classroom. On the wall of the room is a blackboard with: "Short film actor's workshop – love scene" written on it. A group of students sit cross-legged on the floor, their backs to us - watching the scene. The teacher is standing before the group with two students, after a moment he and says: Teacher: Steve, John… make passionate love to each other. The two students look at one another, they then begin to move in closer together – beginning to hug. The teacher stops the students. Teacher: Enough – that was terrible, sit down. The two students head off to sit down. Teacher: It's a short film, okay The teacher calls up another student to help him demonstrate. Teacher: Ron, please come up here. The student hurries to the front of the class. The teacher begins to take off his shirt as he says: Teacher: The love scene technique I'm about to show you, will allow you to make love effectively, in less than three seconds. Pay attention – this is going to happen very fast. He then begins to run across the room at the horrified student Cut to the end slate and the "Worldwide short Film Festival" logo. ---------------------- CANADIAN FILM CENTRE'S WORLDWIDE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL TV "Special FX" : 30 (AS RECORDED) Open on the inside of a sparsely furnished classroom. On the wall of the room is a blackboard with: "Short film workshop – Special F/X" written on it. A group of students sit cross-legged on the floor, their backs to camera. The teacher walks toward us – a trickle of smoke rises before him. As he walks he says: Teacher: Ground foggers, dry ice, smoke machines…expensive and time consuming. The teacher holds up his hands up in the air as we cut wide where we can see that he has a lit cigarette clipped to the fly of his pants. Teacher: For a short film, a simple cigarette and Bulldog clip… The teacher struts around the room a little – smoke rising wherever he goes. Teacher: …and I'm Brigadoon walking in the Scottish moors… He puts his hands on his hips. Teacher: …or a Gorilla in the mist? The teacher then stands up straight and looking at the class says: Teacher: …you're all wrong. It's me Ian Heidegger… I'm acting. Magic. We cut to see a student in the class shake his head. Cut to the end slate and the "Worldwide short Film Festival" logo. Teacher: Magic.
