The whiskey mugs were used as fun, attention-getting tchotchkes. They were handed out (primarily) to advertising professionals as a means of promoting a show about advertising professionals. (There’s a weird parallel there.) A lot of TV show swag is cheesy, forgettable at best, but these items seemed to capture the imagination of the Mad Men creators. So much so, we had to print extras for the cast and crew.
