Set in the fictional seven kingdoms of Westeros, HBO’s Game of Thrones follows several rival families as they struggle to control the Iron Throne. The series is based on George RR Martin’s widely acclaimed epic fantasy novels. To attract press attention for the highly anticipated home video release of Game of Thrones season one, HBO Home Entertainment pulled out all the stops to create a set of premium press kits. Four different boxes were created, each based on the sigils of the four main noble houses in the series: a direwolf for Stark, a stag for Baratheon, a lion for Lannister, and a three-headed dragon for Targaryen. Inside each box were items for both die-hard fans and the uninitiated: a wax seal kit with a sigil stamp, papyrus-like textured stationery with sigil watermarks, postcards of each noble family, and a paperweight modeled after the show’s iconic petrified dragon eggs. The kit also included digital press materials and the first episode of season one on DVD.
