“Princess” 1:30 (Open on a tower in an enchanted forest. A beautiful young princess walks up to the tower window) Princess: (humming and singing) Hmm hmm hmmmmm… There’s something in the air, I know it! Maybe today my dream will come truuuuue. (Her little bird friend flies up to her as she approaches the window. He tweets a happy song) Princess: Isn’t it a beautiful day, Edie? (The bird whistles in agreement. We cut to a shot of a Princely-looking man galloping through the woods) Princess: Oh my goodness, he’s here! Charles! I can’t believe you’ve really come. (He gets off his horse and climbs up the tower wall) Charles: I said I’d be back, didn’t I? (Cut to him climbing into her tower room. There are piles of cocaine and coins on her desk) Princess: So…where’s my money? Charles: Well, I’ll get it to you next week, OK? (The princess pulls out a gun and aims it at Charles) Princess: I want my money. Charles: (pleading with her) No, please! I promise… you’ll have it next week, I’m sorry! (She pulls the trigger and shoots her bird friend dead) Princess: (enraged) Next time, bring my fucking money! Super: Unexpected stories Logo: Whistler Film Festival “Gangster” 1:30 (Open on an office in the back of a meat packing plant. A tough-looking man is sitting at a desk. The phone rings and he picks it up) Man: Yeah. (The gangster hangs up the phone. He breathes heavily and looks very pensive. Then he grabs his gun and heads out. Cut to him driving into a shipping yard. He gets to a clearing and turns off the car. He takes a moment before getting out of the car) Music: Suspenseful (He parks his car and then slowly walks over to meet a man who leads him to a shipping container. The man opens the container’s big, heavy door) Music: More suspenseful. (The gangster steps forward, and at the same time, a group of people walk out of the container. They are migrant people from China who have clearly been in the shipping container for some time. They walk past the gangster, and then he sees who he’s looking for. It’s an older Chinese man. They see each other and then kiss passionately) Music: Romantic Super: Unexpected stories. Logo: Whistler Film Festival “Packing Up” 1:15 (Open on that typical scene where a boy is leaving home to go off to college. The boy’s mom gives him one last, teary embrace) Mom: So I guess this is it? Son: Don’t cry, Mom. (The boy then walks over to meet his dad, who is packing up the station wagon. It’s filled to the brim with boxes and furniture. He closes the trunk) Music: Uplifting musical score Dad: So you think you’ve got everything you need? Son: Yeah. Dad: You have enough supplies to last you a couple of months. Son: Thanks, Dad. Dad: The body’s in the cooler. You know where to dump it. (The boy nods) Dad: Stay off the main roads, son. (The dad hands the son the keys, and he gets in the car to go) Super: Prepare for the unexpected. Logo: Whistler Film Festival
