The challenges designing this book cover were threefold. One, it had to convey the book's subject – the confusion and ambiguity surrounding the role of the modern wife – without resorting to retrograde cliche. Two, it had to be provocative and witty to reflect the author's style and approach. Three, it had to be bold, even iconic, so it would stand out in bookstores and also be effective in marketing the book internationally.
