In the Eastern Highlands of Scotland, the river Den Burn had been damned and a channel was hewn by hammer and chisel from solid rock to supply water to the Brechin Distillery's condensers, some twenty feet below. The identity for Brechin was inspired by this and the main pack emblem features the hammer and chisel combined with the letter 'B'. The type was 'metal set' and the labels tipped on to enhance the craftsmanship.
