In 1996, Saputo acquired Fromagerie Caron (a fine cheese importer) and Fromagerie Cayer (a local fine cheese maker). Since the 35-40 products came from two different brands with no visual reference between them, we decided to merge the two companies and rebrand their entire product lines into one strong brand. This is how Alexis de Portneuf was born. Each package has an illustration that was inspired either by the cheese itself or its origin.
