Little Women is chockfull of goodness and it was difficult to get anyone to poke good natured fun at it. I first hired Lynda Barry who just wouldn't go there, and later Julie Doucet. I figured she had the guts to do it. I'd say, 'less bibles,' 'add pimples,' 'use words like frikken,' and Julie kept saying, 'But the book is so gooooood... It seems that maybe for Little Women, this is as far as it's gonna go."
