John Currin worked for six years on the painting that eventually became The Dogwood Thieves. Starting with a photograph from a magazine advertisement, he altered the painting several dozen times until he was satisfied with the composition. This publication is based on a lecture given by John Currin in August 2010 at the Acadia Summer Arts Program. It remains very informal and conversational as Currin expresses his many points of excitement, and the even more plentiful points of doubt, while finishing the painting. 88 pages, 6 3/4 x 9, 4-color, Smyth-sewn.
