Italo Calvino: Letters, 1941–1985 by Italo Calvino, selected and with an introduction by Michael Wood. Translated by Martin McLaughlin. “Being a fan of Calvino’s work, I was intent on presenting his likeness in a manner that was imaginative and tasteful. The design of the cover is centered around a portrait I commissioned by a talented colleague, Michael Molloy. The minimal treatment of the floating head against large typography, along with a black-and-white color palette, was the only direction that I decided to pursue. A belly band provided a place for the cover copy while exposing portions of the artwork behind it.”
