The African school photographs were part of an overall campaign launching the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium's new Heart of Africa exhibit. The exhibit included plenty of African animals, but also celebrated the customs, music, art and people of Africa. The dramatic photos of African villagers and schoolchildren were used in signage, event materials and fundraising presentations. Heart of Africa helped the zoo set a new attendance record in 2014, nearly 2.5 million visitors.
