Sleeping Beauty: A One-Artist Dictionaryis a collaborative work by artist John Sparagana and critic Mieke Bal. The book takes the shape of a conversation between the artist's creations and the critic's words; the design, typography and physical form of the book were inspired by this interplay of words and art. Apart from the content-page spread, Bal's word-jazz responses to Sparagana's art presented the greatest (and most rewarding) design challenge. 136 pages, 11 1/4 x 9 1/4, 33 color plates. Typeface: Caecilia by Peter Matthias Noordzij.
