This brand identity and packaging for a new California wine was inspired by the name itself. A Sawbuck is Civil War slang for a ten-dollar bill. The nickname arose from farmers who thought the Roman numeral ten on the notes resembled a sawhorse. Inspired by the typography and rich textural feel of original Sawbuck notes, the design incorporates the vintage date, lot numbers and owner's names, reminiscent of these classic American notes. Typefaces: Centaur, CF Dom Chancery, Engravers Gothic, Federal Eighteen, Federal Reserve Note, Futura, H&FJ Numbers: Depot, H&FJ Numbers: Deuce, Helvetica.
