The objective was to create a compelling identity for The Heartland Alliance Marjorie Kovler Center, a treatment program devoted to the recovery and healing of torture victims. I tried to convey raw emotion by using a pained yet bold calligraphic style for the lettering (i.e., an oppressed person scratching out a message on a jail wall, and a chair to suggest torture). The identity was used for a fundraiser/auction on the invitation, program, banners, etc.
