When School of Visual Arts invited me to design a subway poster, I referenced the iconic subway tiles. Mosaic samples were photographed in different stations in order to create the letters and background in Photoshop, tile by tile. The poster, 30 x 46", was printed in offset in 4-color process, and appeared in subway stops all over New York City from April through May. In June, a 38-foot version was installed on the side of SVA's main building on 23rd Street (where the arrow just happens to point to the school)."
