Founded in 1826, the Maryland Institute College of Art is the oldest accredited art school in the United States. The school commissioned Pentagram's Abbott Miller to commemorate its incredible heritage with an illustrated history. The book design integrates the institutional identity designed by Miller in 2007 and the cover features an image of the school's historic main building and is wrapped in a translucent jacket graphic pattern inspired by industrial elements in the school's architecture. MICA's story is traced through 450 images including historical photographs, illustrations, works of art by students and faculty, artifacts and ephemera. 320 pages, 10 x 12 3/4, 4-color, Smyth sewn. Typefaces: Griffith Gothic, Lexicon.
