The poster 'Demons and Habits' was created as part of a professional event for the School of Media, Culture and Design at Woodbury University. The title was an allusion to the creative influences that we carry with us throughout our professional lives, and to the professional habits that these mentors have hopefully engendered. As the very subject of type was central to the presentation, the poster was created from bent pieces of white, uncoated paper, affixed to a background 40 x 60 inches. It was then set up in a vertical orientation in a large, darkened studio, where we explored the addition of light to reveal the form—eventually gelling the light. The finished poster was created in collaboration with photographer Donald Miller, whose role in such a piece cannot be overestimated. The 'devilish' quality of the light is entirely his work. 11 x 17, 4-color, plus coating, offset lithography on uncoated paper.
