“A component of my fall 2012 MFA exhibition at Michigan State University was an informative viewer experience about voting. The 48-inch “VOTE” letters are based on the Lo-Res Nines family designed by Zuzana Licko (Emigre fonts). The font’s modularity lent itself to a trompe l’oeil that implied volume but had structural integrity upon assembly. Viewers became participants when they inscribed a description of themselves as voters directly onto the letters.”
