“McSweeney’s was about to release Beck’s newest album, a collection of sheet music with accompanying illustrations. I bumped into the project’s art directors at lunch when they were meeting to discuss the cover, which had not yet been finalized. By the end of lunch we were sketching together. The inspiration for the design is the sheet music itself, the unravelling nature of music and the way fans will interact with the songs.”
