"The side effect of the BMW X5's third-row seating? Back-backseat drivers. And with them come many unsolicited thoughts, stories and opinions. In 'Aliens,' a family opens the X5's panoramic moonroof to get a better look at the stars on a beautiful night. That simple action, though, prompts our back-backseat driver to share her thoughts on the space race. Thankfully, the X5 is comfortable, even when the conversation is anything but. In 'Pick-Up Sticks,' a family listens to music in the car using the X5's Spotify integration, which prompts our back-backseat driver to share a story about the comparatively simple ways she would entertain herself as a kid—by playing pick-up sticks, for example. But then the charming story takes an unexpected and odd turn. In 'Leather,' a family takes a drive on a seemingly ordinary afternoon when our back-backseat driver comments on the fanciness of the BMW X5's leather interior. Her daughter-in-law explains that it's the premium package, which prompts a very tangential, very uncomfortable anecdote about how her late husband used to love leather."
