Maximiliano R. Sproviero, Lián Types, typeface designer
“My aim with Seventies was to fill the existing gap of seventyish-looking fonts. That decade has a hidden treasure of type that remains unexplored. Nowadays, there are many books to understand how different styles of calligraphy should be done. However, because of the post-modernist era, 1960s and 1970s letters seemed to be free of rules. To get over this challenge, I incorporated some ideas of how letters are made in snell, or engrosser’s, script. I replaced the delicacy of thins with the graceful imprint of really thick thicks with a brushy look and tons of good vibes.”
