“Malayalam is a Dravidian language with a syllabic alphabet that dates back to AD 830 and falls into the category of round writing. It has 38 million speakers worldwide, most in the Indian state of Kerala. While preserving the cultural integrity of the original lettering, a modern origami treatment was applied to make it fun and vibrant. The color palette was inspired by the flower petals from the Onam harvest festival and Kathakali, the classic Indian dance-drama.”
