"Through e-mail marketing, we promoted notebooks made from 100 percent post-consumer waste; instead of having straight-up product photos, I wanted to try something different. The idea I had was to create something ghostly to convey the idea of a second life—much like giving life to dead things and the repurposing of waste products into something new. I cut this all by hand and then photographed its shadow for effect."
