"This self-initiated work responds to the seemingly endless and growing number of unarmed Americans, particularly African Americans, killed by police. I confront the viewer by making a visceral, then rational appeal: Flesh-and-blood humans are more than statistics and fleeting images on a newscast. Detailed text accompanies each victim’s first name, noting the person’s full name and age, and the location and date of his or her murder."
