For Old Spice’s Smellcome to Manhood print campaign, we wanted intense emotion from our ‘mom’ talent. Because she didn’t speak English, I had to be really emphatic with my directions, which her nephew would then translate for her. It was one of the oddest on-set dynamics I have experienced, but the despair of a son growing up is pretty universal.
