“For the Human Rights Campaign (HRC)’s 2017 annual report, the decision was made to ‘strip’ back the full-color, glossy publications of prior years. Instead, we designed a large-format magazine. We simplified by using only two colors—HRC’s brand color with crisp black—and printing on newsprint. We made typography the primary vehicle of storytelling. Every spread strengthens the central message—‘unite, resist and enlist’—and the type was modified, elongated and stretched to reflect the tension between the activist and the new administration. The piece is visually striking and dynamic; but more importantly, it energizes the reader to do ‘more.’” 32 pages, 12 1/2 × 22, black plus 1 PMS, folded.
