“Noelle, an experiential hotel in Nashville, was built in 1930 and reopened in 2017. We were tasked with connecting the story of Nashville’s past to the present day with branding and way finding. Using the building’s art deco roots as inspiration, we layered custom numerals, monograms and other motifs into the design. An inlaid brass line directs guests throughout the space and becomes a symbol for this continuous narrative. From the ‘cowfolk’ to the great blue heron, we assembled a cast of characters that tell a story of the city—past, present and future.”
