“For season two of the adidas Originals x Alexander Wang collaboration, we took inspiration from the collection’s two inspirations, cycling and rave cultures, by tapping into the only community that brought them together—New York City dealers. A chatbot with all the mannerisms of an anonymous dealer took orders from consumers. Then, the retail model, which so often relies on manufactured hype, was subverted completely as bike messengers flooded the streets and dealt product directly to consumers’ doors. No lines. No displays. No stores. Only texts.”
