“Gentriville is an interactive experience made for the documentary Quartiers sous tension (Neighborhoods tension). The user experience of Gentriville, based on the concept of books in which you are the hero, is built as the user makes choices. The user’s movements are shown on a map of seven neighborhoods representing different sides of gentrification. The discovery of the neighborhood map is based on each of the user’s interactions with a questionnaire component; the combination of answers is unique, so it can be repeated as often as desired. While exploring, the user changes not only neighborhoods, but also the state of mind. Each neighborhood reports results from other users’ visits to the website, which enables comparison of the differences in the public’s perception of gentrification. This realizes a kind of live survey that reframes the user’s perception of the topic.”
