“Taken in Huntsville, Alabama, in 2016 for an article about United Launch Alliance, which is a joint rocket-building venture between Lockheed Martin and Boeing, and the competition with newer companies like SpaceX. My goal was to show the scale of the rockets as well as the scale of the space. I took this image of a technician and the face of a fuel tank with my camera on a tripod and exposed for the ambient light while my assistant held a strobe with a gel to match the fluorescent lights. To get this image of the final assembly space, I shot from a ladder in order to be eye level with the rockets so they lead you through the left and right sides of the frame.”
