“This was a personal collaboration between stylist Amy Soderlind and me. We try to do portfolio shoots a couple of times a year to keep the creativity flowing. We were talking about how much we wished we could travel to Mexico or Cuba for a shoot, and then thought, ‘Let’s bring the tropical energy to set.’ We partnered with Jesse Silver to custom-paint a backdrop for the shoot and bring in these rustic, funky props you might find just lying around for texture and color. For this image, Joshua Conover brought in cool color for makeup, and Margaret Gambles, our model, gave the perfect expression of confidence with apathy.”
