Johns Hopkins Film Festival, client

“As our first non-punk-rock client—since before we founded the business— the underground Johns Hopkins Film Festival is near and dear to the studio. With the blessing of the student-led film programming committee, we have often used the poster as a platform for design experimentation. In the early 2010s, most movie theaters were completing the shift to digital projection. As a contrarian rebuttal, the 2012 festival only screened 35mm and 16mm prints under the mantra ‘Film’s Not Dead.’ For the poster, we drew a giant The End in the style of classic movie titles, then crossed it out with translucent filmstrip tape printed with the festival information. The festival’s street team used the tape in inventive ways as well, candy-caning it around streetlight poles and stretching it down hallways.”
