“The Royal Dutch Cycling Federation, or KNWU, approached us to create the first-ever live visualization of its national BMX freestyle championships. The target audience was composed of three main groups: the viewers, the cyclists and the judges. By placing sensors on the front and back of the bikes, we gathered data about the position, acceleration, height and rotation of the riders. These inputs were then used to visualize the unique path of each rider in a 3-D environment, which was presented on a large LED display during the event. The visualization included dashboards to give a better overview of the performance of the riders. It also contained information about lineups, rankings and sponsors to turn the event into a rich front-row experience for viewers.”
