“For an exhibition titled Kitokito Toyama at Not Just Library in Taipei. Led by the Toyama Prefecture Comprehensive Design Center, the handicraft brand Kitokito Toyama represents the Japanese concept of osusowake, which roughly translates to ‘sharing gifts given to you among family and friends’ in English. Osusowake has been popular in Toyama since ancient times and now materializes as craft gifts made in the prefecture. This exhibition highlights the deep local craftsmanship presented as small Japanese props and souvenirs and translates the impression of handicraft into something encountered in the daily lives of modern people.”
