William Whitley, Pandemonium.Press, typographer/client

A Tennyson Tetraptych. Initially, I set out to produce a broadside of Lord Alfred Tennyson’s poem ‘The Lady of Shalott,’ but ultimately, it became a series of four prints. I framed each part of the poem with a unique background pattern utilizing the 16th-century Granjon Arabesques, a set of six combinable fleurons that have remained a staple of typographic and academic interest for several hundred years.” 12 × 18, 1-color plus 2 PMS, handset metal type, handprinted on dampened 250gsm Stonehenge paper on a Vandercook 317 press.
