what it all boils down to is Ming Hsun Yu’s first solo exhibition at Studio 45—later traveling to Taiwan—showcasing a series of thirteen drawings and paintings created in Yu’s studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York. The title of Yu’s first solo exhibition, what it all boils down to, pays homage to their love of metaphor. Yu believes metaphors, though reductive, display human attempts to make sense of the world by identifying one, simple structure. Neither animal nor human, man nor woman, body nor building, Yu figures viscerally wrestle with the plight of being caught in between.
